Hello! I’m Haven

I’m currently on medical hold—for reasons that are pretty clear once you hear my story. I came into care after my previous owner, who was dealing with her own medical challenges, could no longer look after me. When I arrived, my beak was severely overgrown, my feathers were in rough shape, and I had all the attitude you’d expect from a Quaker trying to cope.

During my beak trim, it was discovered that my beak is very soft, a sign of significant malnutrition. The wonderful staff and volunteers at Meika’s Safehouse have been working tirelessly to get my levels back to where they should be, but my recovery will take time—I came in in pretty rough condition. I’m currently being treated with vitamin supplements and anti-parasite medication, and I’m slowly on the road to feeling better. I hope in a few months I can give you a more positive update on my condition, but for right now my future is up in the air.
