Hello! I’m Koda

I am a Blue Fronted Amazon parrot that loves attention!

I haven’t been at the shelter for very long so my caregivers don’t know much about me yet, but so far I’m pretty friendly and chatty!

I think given the chance, I would really like to bond to one particular person and be their best buddy.

Unfortunately my former guardian was moving into a pet free home so I was not able to go with them.

September 28, 2026 Medical Update:

During her routine health check at the safehouse, Dr. Daren noted that Koda appeared to be in excellent health, but she appeared to get a little lightheaded and dizzy during the examination. This raised suspicions that there may be an underlying issue happening.

The decision was made to perform an ultrasound examination of the heart, during this diagnostic it was found that Koda's heart chambers, particularly the left ventricle had less space within them for blood because the walls of the heart had become excessively thickened. This is a condition commonly seen in birds called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Koda's heart is not pumping enough blood to the brain during times of stress.

While there is no treatment to cure Koda's heart condition, some lifestyle management can help keep her comfortable over time.

Unfortunately the most likely scenario is that Koda will remain mostly asymptomatic until an acute crisis develops such as a stroke, or sudden acute heart failure. Sadly we have no way of predicting how long she may have, it could be months and it could be years. Her adoption fee is reduced to reflect this medical condition costing only the fee for the microchip, health exam and a fraction of the cost of the ultrasound testing.

She is a lovely talkative girl but she would need a home that has no other pets, no children and a solid routine to avoid any stressors.
