Hello! I’m Zirka

And to know me is to love me. I am the sweetest Indian Ringneck on planet Earth…at least according to my care givers. I am so curious, so smart, cuddly (if handled correctly), mischievous and affectionate.

I am gentle and get along with other birds (in fact, I get along with them so well, I don’t understand why some birds don’t want to get along with me! All I want to do is love)

I have charming chirps and clucks when things strike my fancy…I court myself in all kinds of reflective surfaces from mirrors to clip board clips to food dishes. I LOVE towels, shirts, socks…pretty much any type of soft cuddly fabrics…I whistle and cluck to them all the time .. I LOVE “helping” you with the laundry. I also know a couple common whistles too that I will happily whistle back to you if you initiate and engage with me.

I am a great eater of healthy wholesome things like carrots, cucumbers, watermelon, corn, peas, rice and more. I eat pellets (Tropican, Harrisons, Zupreem and roudybush, you pick, I eat)

My previous family made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome me because of my natural bird behaviors. I am messy (meaning I poop, I chew/shred things like toys, papers, and stuff I’m not supposed to), and I make high pitched calls when something startles me, or I’m trying to alert of you imminent dangers such as a new person coming into the house or if I am lonely and bored.

It isn’t natural for me to be an only bird, I am so very social with people and birds and would like to live in a home where I won’t be alone.
